What Can I Expect During My First Visit to a Chiropractor?
Your first visit will be a one hour initial exam and consultation appointment with Dr. Wilke. We feel it is necessary to be as thorough as possible to determine the cause(s) of your health concern. We find that some health concerns can be traced all the way back to the birth process itself.
Prior to your initial exam, Dr. Wilke will have you complete a comprehensive health history to help him assess the various kinds of current and/or prior stressors you’ve had in your life (mental, emotional, physical and chemical).
When you come in for your initial exam, you will receive a brief education about chiropractic care (if needed) and explain anything necessary for you to feel confident and comfortable with our office and office procedures.
A non-invasive thermal scan and postural muscle scan of your spine is performed to look for heat variances and muscle imbalances between the right and left sides of your body to identify areas of dysfunction. These scans create a baseline from which we measure your progress and the effectiveness of your response to our care. Next, we observe you standing and sitting to assess your natural posture and breathing capacity. And finally, we palpate (feel) your spine and surrounding structures to document areas of held tension.
After the exam, we will schedule a follow up appointment with you to go over all the results and answer any questions you might have. Together we will develop a treatment plan for your long-term wellness and health goals.
What can you expect from a Network Spinal Analysis™ appointment?
A few highlights:
- Treatments are called adjustments or entrainments.
- You remain clothed (except your shoes) during a session.
- An appointment takes about 20 to 30 minutes.
- The adjustment itself is gentle and very often pleasurable and relaxing.
Typically, NSA is a group experience. Treatment rooms have a number of chiropractic tables for clients to use with the doctor moving among them. Private sessions can be arranged if necessary.
